 आकृति स्त्री आक्रियते व्यज्यते जातिरनया करणे क्तिन् ।जातिव्यञ्जकेऽवयवसंस्थानभेदे । “आकृतिग्रहणा जातिः”महाभा० । “जात्याकृतिव्यक्तयस्तु पदार्थः” गौ० सू०तत्राकृतिलक्षणं तत्रैवोक्तम् “आकृतिर्जातिलिङ्गाख्या”गौ० । “जातेर्गोत्वादेः मास्नादिः संस्थानविशेषो हिलिङ्गमिति । “इयमाकृतिरेव शक्यार्थः इति केचिन्म-न्यन्ते । तदभिप्रायेण,  महाभा० । “येनोच्चारितेन सास्रा-लाङ्गूलककुदखुरविषाणिनां संप्रत्ययो भवति स शब्दइति” अनाकृतिः संज्ञा आकृतिमन्तः संज्ञिन” इति ।“लोकेऽपि ह्याकृतिमतो मांसपिण्डस्य देवदत्त इति संज्ञाक्रियते” इति च महाभा० । गौतमेन तु इतरपक्षनिरा-करणेन त्रयाणामेव शक्यार्थत्वमुररीकतं यथा । “आकृतिस्त-दपेक्षत्वात् सत्त्वव्यवस्थानसिद्धेः” सू० । आकृतिः पदार्थःकुतः सत्त्वस्य प्राणिनोगवादेर्व्यवस्थानरिद्धेर्व्यवस्थितत्व-सिद्धेः तदपेक्षत्वादाकृत्यपेक्षत्वात् अयमश्वोगौरयमित्यादिव्यवहारस्याकृतत्यपेक्षत्वात् आकृतिरेव शक्यार्थः । इतियन्मतं तद्दूषयित्वा जातेः पदार्थत्वमाह “व्यक्त्याकृतियुक्तेऽप्यप्रसङ्गात् प्रोक्षणादीनां मृद्गवके जातिः” सू० ।मृद्गवके व्यक्त्याकृतियुक्तेऽपि प्रोक्षणादीममप्रसङ्गात् जातिःपदार्थः । इतरथा मृद्गवकस्यापि व्यक्तित्वात् गवाकृतिमत्त्वाच्चवैधप्रोक्षणादिप्रसङ्ग इति भावः । एवं जात्याकृतिव्यक्तीनांप्रत्येकस्य शक्यत्वपक्षं निराकृत्य त्रयाणामेव शक्यत्वमि-त्याह । जात्याकृतिव्यक्तयस्तु पदार्थः” सू० “तुशब्देनएकमात्रपदार्थत्वव्यवच्छेदः एककवचनं तु तिसृष्व-प्येकैव शक्तिरिति सूचनाय,  विभिन्नशक्तौ कदाचित्कस्यचिदुपस्थितिः स्यात् । शक्तेस्तुल्यत्वेऽपि व्यक्तेर्विशे-ष्यत्वं तथैव शक्तिग्रहात् । नचाकृत्यादिसाधारण-शक्यतावच्छेदकाभावात् न शक्त्यैक्यम् इति वाच्यम् तथानियमे मानाभावात् इदं गवादिपदमभिप्रेत्याह तेनपश्वादिपदस्य जात्यवाचकत्वेऽपि न क्षतिः जातिपदं वाधर्म्म परं तथैव लक्षणस्य वक्तव्यत्वादिति” वृत्तिः । एवंशक्यत्वं व्यवस्थाप्य आकृतेर्लक्षणमुक्तं “आकृतिर्जाति-लिङ्गाख्या” सू० प्राग्विवृतम् । एतेनाकृतिशब्दस्यजातिव्यक्त्योः संबन्धपरत्वकल्पनमर्वाचीनानां परास्तम्सम्बन्धस्य जातिलिङ्गत्वाभावात् तस्य शक्यतावच्छेदसम्बन्ध-त्वेन शक्यत्वाभावाच्च । शा० भा० आकृतीनां नित्यत्वोक्तिःतुल्याकृतिमवाहनित्यत्वाभिप्रायेण द्रष्टव्या “यत्राकृति-स्तत्र गुणा वसन्ति” नीतिः “न तुलाविषये तवाकृतिः”“त्वदुदाहरणाकृतौ गुणाः” इति च नैष० २ आकारे “इङ्गितंहृद्गतोभावो बहिराकार आकृतिरिति” सज्जनोक्तेः३ आकृतियुक्ते देहे “किमिव हि मधुराणां मण्डनं नाकृ-तीनाम्” शकु० । “स्पष्टाकृतिः पत्ररथेन्द्रकेतोः” रघुः ।“स्फुरितं मनोगतमिवाकृतयः” “गोवर्द्धनस्याकृतिरन्व-कारि” इति च माघः । “नाकृतिगुरुता गुरुता” उद्भटः ।४ आकरे मूलग्रन्थादौ च आकृतिगणः ।
