अभूततद्भाव Tatpur. m. (-वः) The becoming of, the being
transformed or changed of a substance to, what it has not
been before

इति वक्तव्यम् to Pāṇ. V. 4. 50.: येन रूपेण प्रागभूतं कारणं
तेन रूपेण तस्य भावोऽभूततद्भावः

pressed by the affixes called in Pāṇini's system च्वि and
साति, and in some denominatives by the affix क्यङ्

the Sūtras quoted, and V. 4. 51-55.--The Calcutta Paṇḍits
who have compiled a comm. on Pāṇ. have misapplied this
word in using it in the sense of ‘the being or taking place
of what has not been before’, when they comment on the
word आश्चर्य ‘wonderful’, VI. 1. 174.
neither Patanjali and
his comm., nor the Kāś. or the Siddhk. make use of the
word at this occasion.] E. अभूत and तद्भाव.
