  अधि + स्था--ल्युट् । नियमितकार्य्यविशेषाकरणेनसान्निध्यमात्रेण नियमनाय,  स्थितौ,  वेदान्तशास्त्रप्रसिद्धेआरोपाधिकरणे च । वेदान्तिनाञ्च अध्यासस्याङ्गमधिष्ठानंयथा तथाऽध्यासशब्दे वक्ष्यते । अधिकरणे ल्युटि । पुरेआधारमात्रे,  आश्रये च । “तदधिष्ठानाश्रयदेहेतद्वाद इति” सां० सू० । “तस्य लिङ्गस्य यदधिष्ठानमाश्रयोवक्ष्यमाणभूतपञ्चकं तस्याश्रये षाट्कौशिके देहे इतिभाष्यम्” । करणे ल्युटि । चक्रे,  प्रभावे च चक्रेण,  प्रभावेन चहि प्रवृत्तयुद्धकृत्यादिसम्भवः । अधिष्ठानञ्च नियन्तृत्वंयथोक्तं सांख्ये । “संहतपरार्थत्वात् त्रिगुणादिविपर्य्य-यादधिष्ठानादिति” “इतश्च पुरुषोऽस्ति अधिष्ठानात्त्रिगुणात्मकानामधिष्ठीयमानत्वात् यद्यत् सुखदुःखमोहात्मकंतत् सर्व्वं परेणाधिष्ठीयमानं दृष्टं यथा रथादि यन्त्रादिभिः, सुखदुःखमोहात्मकञ्चेदंबुद्ध्यादि,  तस्मादेतदपि परेणाधिष्ठात-व्यम् । स च परस्त्रैगुण्यादन्य आत्मेति” सा० कौ० । भावेल्युट् । सन्निधिमात्रे । “अत्राधिष्ठानं कुर्विति” आवाहन-मन्त्रः । “भोक्तुरधिष्ठानाद्भोगायतननिर्म्माणमन्यथा पूति-भावप्रसङ्गात्” इति सांख्यसू० “भोक्तुः प्राणस्याधिष्ठानात्व्यापारादेव भोगायतनस्य शरीरस्य निर्म्माणं भवति ।अन्यथा प्राणव्यापाराभावे शुक्रशोणितयोः पूतिभावप्रसङ्गात्मृतदेहवदित्यर्थः । तथाच रससञ्चारादिव्यापारविशेषैःप्राणो देहस्य निमित्तकारणं धारकत्वादिति भाव इति भा० ।ननु प्राणिनः निर्व्यापारस्याधिष्ठाने प्रयोजनाभाव इतितत्राह । “भृत्यद्वारा स्वाम्याधिष्ठितिर्नैकान्त्यात्” इति सा०सू० । “देहनिर्म्माणे व्यापाररूपमधिष्ठानं स्वामिनश्चेतनस्यै-कान्त्यात् अपेक्षा नास्ति किन्तु प्राणरूपभृत्यद्वारा यथाराज्ञः पुरनिर्म्माण इत्यर्थः । तथा च प्राणस्याधिष्ठातृत्वंसाक्षात्,  पुरुषस्याधिष्ठातृत्वं प्राणसंयोगमात्रेणेति सिद्धम् ।कुलालादीनां घटादिनिर्म्माणेष्वप्येवम् । विशेषस्त्वयं तत्रचेतनस्य बुद्ध्यादेश्चाप्युपयोगोऽस्ति बुद्धिपूर्व्वकं स्रष्टृत्वा-दिति । यद्यपि प्राणाधिष्ठानादेव देहनिर्माणं तथापिप्राणद्वारा प्राणिसंयोगोऽप्यपेक्ष्यते पुरुषार्थमेव प्राणेन देह-निर्माणादित्याशयेन भोक्तुरधिष्ठानादित्युक्तम् इति भा० ।अधिष्ठीयते कर्म्मणि ल्युट् । अधिष्ठिते सन्निधिमात्रेणनियन्त्रिते । “इन्द्रियाणि मनो बुद्धिरस्याधिष्ठान-मुच्यते” इति गीता ।
