संग्रहः श्रेयान् सर्व्वसंग्रहात्
 ‘worthier than I, ’ अस्मत्तो वरीयान्.
Or by न च
 as,  ‘silence is better than speaking un-
truth, ’ वरं मौनं न च वचनम् अनृतं [i. e. better silence and
not speaking untruth]. In modern Sanskrit ‘than’ is
often expressed by अपेक्षया,  or अपेक्ष्य
 as,  ‘some of the
organs of animals are stronger than those of men, ’ जन्तूनां
कानिचिद् इन्द्रियाणि मनुप्यापेक्षया प्रवलानि
 ‘acid has a stronger
