Sanskrit-n : शीर्षकम् । शीर्षम् । (१) प्रेषितदत्तांशसम्पुटे अग्रतः विद्यमानः अंशः, यस्मिन् प्रभवसङ्केतः, गन्तव्यसङ्केतः, दोषपरीक्षकम् इत्यादीनि क्षेत्राणि अन्तर्भवन्ति । (२) वैद्युतकपत्रे, वैद्युतकवार्तालेखे वा अग्रतः विद्यमानः अंशः यस्मिन् सन्देशप्रेषकस्य नाम, ई-पत्रसङ्केतः, सन्देशप्रेषणवेला, तिथिः इत्यादयः सूच्यांशाः अन्तर्भवन्ति । (1) The portion of a packet , preceding the actual data, containing source and destination addresses, error checking and other fields. (2) The part of an electronic mail message or news article that precedes the body of a message and contains, among other things, the sender's name and e-mail address and the date and time the message was sent.
